What Underlying Cause does ALL Musculoskeletal Pain have in Common?

 MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN Simplified

Did you know that ALL joint & muscle pain comes from 1 or both of these 2 issues?

1) DYSFUNCTION
2) DAMAGE

DYSFUNCTION (Somatic Dysfunction) is defined as: "altered functions of related components of the somatic (body framework) system". It typically occurs "from sudden movements during a slip or fall, but can also be from biomechanical deviations as well as postural abnormalities."
SOLUTION? Postural Restoration Program

DAMAGE refers to an actual physical change to structures; Something that needs repair (i.e.. Tear, Break, Fraying, Necrosis)
SOLUTION? SanuwaveⓇ Shockwave Program
(majority of the time... more than medical professionals realize!)

Though finding damage somewhere is often the focus, the majority of joint & muscle pain is NOT from true damage. So, quit wasting your time on image after image... test after test... insisting on finding SOMETHING damaged to explain the pain.

After a quick overview and test or 2, your Dr should be able to rule out anything serious. It shouldn't take months!!

Oftentimes, after months of searching, there is often still no definite answer.

Even when there is a clear answer to where damage is, the focus is on how to fix the damage - rest, meds, surgery. If none of those solutions work, or if there is not enough damage to operate, the answer is usually "I can't do anything for you."

This is because the underlying cause of ALL musculoskeletal pain is DYSFUNCTION, with or without damage.

Treating the DYSFUNCTION is what I do all.day.long. As I normalize your function (restore balanced motion, position, mechanics), pain that does not include true damage will resolve.

What if there is actual damage?? Then, the Dysfunction STILL must be resolved. Damage is then often less of an issue, but may still need direct resolution.

Luckily, there is a technology that can re-start & reinforce your healing process! It's called Shockwave and it is amazing. Yes, you need to see me in person for it, but I want the world to know it is out there!

Including both of these treatments is what I refer to as the 1-2 punch!

Pain doesn't stand a chance when both "D's" are properly addressed. Surgery is often avoided. Injections become obsolete.

If you're dealing with joint or muscle pain, remember, the majority of that pain can be resolved by resolving your DYSFUNCTION.

Those "Tricky" Hamstrings (Part 3)

So far, we have discussed the consequences of OVER STRETCHING and the role of the NERVOUS SYSTEM in treating and preventing hamstring injuries.  Now it's time to dive in to the ROTATIONAL component of our hamstrings.   We cannot treat the hamstring group in just one plane of motion.  Look at the diagram and notice that there are some hamstring muscles that attach to the inside (medial) side of the knee, and others that attach to the outside (lateral) side of the knee. When working together, the medial and lateral hamstrings will act in a coordinated manner to bend the knee and extend the hip.   Individually, the medial hamstrings turn the thigh inward (Internal Rotation or IR) and the lateral hamstrings turn the thigh outward (External Rotation or ER).  This means that the hamstrings are also a crucial player in side-to-side and rotational movements.  On the same lines, the hamstrings will act at the upper attachment at the pelvis.  The med...

Therapists Need Advice, Too!

PT WITH NAGGING HIP PAIN I received a message from a physical therapist colleague & active mom asking for advice. She had been dealing with some hip pain that seemed to have started when she started increasing her strength training regime. My "R hip, feels like "impingement," but also trigger points in piriformis and adductors. I just can't get them to shut off!" Spoken like a true PT 😅 I gave her pictures of 2 new exercises to try via messenger. 5 DAYS LATER, I receive this: "Messaging to tell you you're my hero. That seated stretch is AH-mazing. I have worked out all week with zero pain." It really CAN be that simple! I have recently launched the Pain Relief Coaching program to offer you all the same Quick, Easy, and Effective advice. No appointments necessary! If you'd like to stay in the loop about this program, hop over to my IG acct  @your_pain_relief_coach . How are Airway and Posture Related?

HOW ARE AIRWAY & POSTURE RELATED? When we think of "airway, we think of life-and-death situations and sleep apnea.  But, there is so much more to our ability to pull air into our lungs freely and evenly and to expel carbon dioxide.  Our alignment and muscle tone play a pivotal role in our ability to maintain a symmetrical, un-restricted airflow.  You see, the respiratory system is a bo dy-wide, interconnected and closed system. There are often clues our body is giving us that there is a restriction somewhere to free, full airflow. Often times, the restrictions are located quite a distance from our nose and mouth! Key Points First of all, it is not common knowledge, but we actually have 4 diaphragms (some even say 5) that all influence each other.  They act as one closed, pressurized system.  If there is an issue with the function of one of the diaphragms, it will influence the others. Another key concept is that our main diaphra...
