How Your Insurance Is Hurting Your Recovery

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

This is one of the most common questions I get asked. It has become the expectation that all medical services are covered by insurance in some way. The idea of paying out of pocket is so foreign. I mean, it HAS to be best for you to see someone covered under your insurance policy, right? Consider this… The decisions on what treatments are covered & valued by insurance companies are not made by anyone with a medical degree. It is a business - period. There was a time one insurance agent actually told me I would be paid more to slap on a pack of ice or electrical stim and walk away than I would to give an additional 15 min of hands-on, 1-on-1 nerve-muscle retraining...for a patient who just had a NERVE surgery! Here’s why this matters to YOU. If your specialist is being paid by some externally-derived paradigm, they are often tempted to treat you according to that paradigm. Even though it is often NOT necessarily the optimal treatment plan for you. They may hold back on what you really need and provide things that are practically wasteful of your time, so that they can bill for something they will get paid better for. Whoa. How is THAT better for you? Still, there are many clinicians who will provide the best care for you, regardless of what they will get paid for. We are compassionate by nature. But, think of this. How worn out are those clinicians? Do they feel appreciated? How long can they really keep that up? It all goes full circle. If your specialist is burned out, underpaid and underappreciated, they are less capable of treating you well, even if they WANT to. They tend to find another option that allows them to practice in a more fulfilling manner, & leave you with the former options to choose from. Does that really sound BEST for YOU? I can tell you this. Most insurance companies are focused on 1 thing… and it’s not you… and it’s certainly not me and my colleagues. Finding a specialist that has your best interest as their #1 is worth every penny. I’ve been told this by clients over & over again. Do you want the best care, even if it means paying out of pocket? We Are ALL Asymmetrical - Why it Matters

Have you noticed a harder time with your front splits on one side? Or maybe it’s always been a struggle for you to get your turn-out on one side? No matter how much you stretch and strengthen, you will not achieve symmetry without compensation (which leads to injury).   Here’s why … Our bodies are NOT symmetrical! Take a look at these images of different systems in our bodies.   Notice how NONE of them are exactly the same on the left as the right. Those "Tricky" Hamstrings (Part 3)

So far, we have discussed the consequences of OVER STRETCHING and the role of the NERVOUS SYSTEM in treating and preventing hamstring injuries.  Now it's time to dive in to the ROTATIONAL component of our hamstrings.   We cannot treat the hamstring group in just one plane of motion.  Look at the diagram and notice that there are some hamstring muscles that attach to the inside (medial) side of the knee, and others that attach to the outside (lateral) side of the knee. When working together, the medial and lateral hamstrings will act in a coordinated manner to bend the knee and extend the hip.   Individually, the medial hamstrings turn the thigh inward (Internal Rotation or IR) and the lateral hamstrings turn the thigh outward (External Rotation or ER).  This means that the hamstrings are also a crucial player in side-to-side and rotational movements.  On the same lines, the hamstrings will act at the upper attachment at the pelvis.  The medial hamstrings will pull the p

SoftWave Therapy - The Latest Technology in Regenerative Medicine

There is a new "secret weapon" hitting the Medical and Performance industries - SoftWave Therapy. It is the latest technology in Regenerative Medicine and has been tested extensively in Europe for the past decade. Recently making it's way into the U.S., SoftWave is quickly taking hold.  We have been seeing exciting results with this device in our office over the past months, both immediate and long-term.  Read on for a summary of what makes SoftWave so unique and effective!  What is SoftWave?   Softwave Therapy essentially “tricks” the body into thinking a fresh trauma has occurred.   A series of pulses are applied to painful areas, which thin the cell membranes and alert the brain.   This kick-starts the natural healing process without actually causing trauma .   This response includes releasing RNA, attracting Stem Cells, increasing circulation, modulating inflammation, releasing growth factors involved in tissue regeneration, and forming new blood vessels
